This was the weekend of Donna's funeral...

For those of you who is not sure who I am talking about, she was Kendal's cousin. On her way back from Alberta she was involved in a fatal accident with a semi.

It was a hard weekend for all the obvious reasons...Donna was young, and we loved her,

but she was also supposed to be married in two weeks and had just been visiting her fiance.

and goodbyes are never easy when you care about people.

Kendal, Brandy, Bree and I left Regina at 7.30am on Sat morning to go to the funeral which was in Eston, Sask. We got there at about 12.30 pm. We went straight for the church first, as everyone was meeting there, and they were also having the viewing until 2pm.

Kendal, Bree and I went in to view Donna before there were a lot of people. She was in her wedding dress, and she looked beautiful. Her sister and Krista had done her make up and her hair was done nice. She had some items in with her that had been precious to her in her life. Someone also stuck a picture of Grandma Wikman in there so they could go together. It was a difficult viewing for me and the girls as we have never done that before, and I haven't had time to process how I feel about that, but it wasn't what I expected either. What struck me profoundly, was how different people look when their souls are no longer there.

Bree handled herself with amazing maturity and grace. Of course she cried, and she also says she needs to think about it more, but she said that she feels it is a good way to say goodbye, as it seemed more real for her, and she got to see Donna one last time.

Brandy didn't want to go in at first, and I said that she didn't have too. She did change her mind later though, and I went in with her. She also handled it fairly well, although she is more sensitive in some ways and had a more difficult time dealing with it. She also wasn't sure how she felt about it.

I was very proud of both of my girls.

The funeral was very nice, and touched on many aspects of who Donna was as a person. It was such a celebration of her life, and I was very touched that her sister and two brothers and their spouses, Krista and Scott, got up and sang a Sarah Mclaughlin song called Ice Cream. Donna's sister Deanna played piano and did lead vocals, her brother Dwayne played guitar and sang one verse, David's wife, Krista sang with Deanna, brother David played his Sax, and Deanna's husband Scott played trumpet. They have never sounded that good. It was a beautiful tribute.

Your love is better than ice cream
Better than anything else that I’ve tried
And your love is better than ice cream
Everyone here know how to fight

And it’s a long way down
It’s a long way down
It’s a long way down to the place
Where we started from

Your love is better than chocolate
Better than anything else that I’ve tried
Oh love is better than chocolate
Everyone here knows how to cry

It’s a long way down
It’s a long way down
It’s a long way down to the place
Where we started from...

...

Linda and Ralph also had some things to say (Donna's parents) and they had a slide show of pictures from Donna's life.

The internment was at the Eston Cemetary. Kendal was one of the pall bearers.

We sang hymns at the graveside.

Kendal and I stayed until the afternoon on the Sunday, and had a chance to visit with a lot of family we haven't seen in a long time. That part is always good, no matter what the circumstances. We all congrated at Linda and Ralphs house for the next couple days and visited...We had a turkey supper on Sat night over there...The town of Eston really stepped up to bat to help out....There was a huge lightning storm on Sat night which we all sat outside and watched...it was pretty cool.

I spent some time with David and Krista's daughter.(Caitlin) and that was probably the best time I had....She was in love with my Chihuahua.....and she is just an all around character....I learned all kinds of things about how badgers should be in jail because they steal, and how she was bit by a tarantula. (without her parents knowing apparently.) She also has a knack for asking a whole bunch of questions that I had to find very tactful answers for....

Her brother Jaben is also very cute.

We watched videos from family moments in Donna's life.

and all of a sudden I am very thankful for all the pictures and video that i have taken of my family....

We finally left at 1pm on Sunday. The trip back was pretty uneventful, except for almost bottoming out the car on the road in Eston....There was a great big ridge in the middle of the road....we thought we had blown a tire, it hit so hard, but the car seems fine....

We ate at Tacotime in Swift Current....it made us sick.

We got home around 7pm.

Again, Ralph and Linda and family, we just want to extend our condolences, and say how sorry we are.

Our thoughts are with you...

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

13. Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. 14. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15. According to the Lord’s own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18. Therefore encourage each other with these words.

Fatal intersection targeted for review

The Dunmore intersection where a Saskatchewan woman was killed Monday was already targeted for a safety inspection by Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure engineers.
However, it appears driver error caused Monday’s traffic fatality.
Donna Meisner, 28, of Eston, Saskatchewan died at the scene 11:45 a.m. Monday after her Chevrolet Cavalier traveling west bound in the slow lane of the Trans-Canada-Highway veered directly into the path of an oncoming west-bound tanker truck driven by a 47-year-old man from Swift Current, SA.
The impact occurred at the intersection where Charles Street and Eagle Butte Road meet the TCH.
“All we know is what we were told by witnesses who said the vehicle entered the eastbound lanes. Why or how we have no idea,” Cst. Brandon Smith of Redcliff RCMP said Tuesday.
Information culled from several sources indicates the woman initially found herself traveling east in the TCH’s west-bound lanes after entering the highway from the Dunmore intersection. Realizing her mistake, she reversed direction and headed back toward the intersection from the right hand, slow lane. At the intersection she attempted a hard left turn through the intersection from the slow lane, crossing into the path of the oncoming west-bound tanker truck.
The accident was the third fatality in two years at the Dunmore intersection.
Monday’s crash, however, appears to be more about tragic timing than engineering or design flaws.
“It just happened to happen here, so it’s being tied in with other collisions that happened at this intersection, when in actual fact that’s really just coincidental,” Cypress County manager Lutz Perschon says.
“But it has raised the issue (of the intersection’s safety) again, obviously.”
In Alberta, all major highways are the purview of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transportation.
However, Perschon says Cypress County reviews all accidents at the Dunmore intersection. The cause of every accident reviewed “generally is to do with driver error,” he said.
“Technically, the intersection is safe,” Perschon added. “Why there is a proliferation of collisions at the intersection is a bit of a mystery to us, but they happen. So obviously there is something there.”
The transportation ministry has already reviewed the Dunmore highway corridor as a preliminary step in what is a two-year study into the possibility of a Medicine Hat bypass being constructed for the Trans-Canada-Highway.
Planning engineer Jerry Lau says that highway interchanges (overpasses) at either end of Dunmore could be included in the project.
However, Lau cautions that the “Highway 1 & 3 Network Functional Planning Study” must be completed first; that is expected in Fall 2007.
“That doesn’t mean we’re not doing anything at the Eagle Butte Road intersection,” Lau says.
The province is currently in discussion with Cypress County on options which include improving the turning lanes at the intersection, partial closure (closing off the median), or even full closure of the intersection.
Does yesterday’s fatality hasten that process?
“Certainly we regret any fatality on our highway, and when they occur, we investigate,” Lau said.
“In this particular case, it appears the lady was making an illegal maneuver, so there wouldn’t have been much we could have done to prevent that.”

Lots of this and that.

Here's a big surprise for you. Guess what! I'm hungry AGAIN. I feel like I have a tape worm growing inside of me. All i do is eat and sleep.

In rebuttal (yes I did say butt) Kendal could say ours was the most popular campsite...but (there's that word again...) no one wanted to visit me....37, pregnant .....You get the picture....(sorry too much info again....) However, my girls have made alot of new friends......

No wonder they don't want to hang out with us. We're downright embarrassing

I knew there was a reason that I hated Mondays....

I came into work this morning.....to be greeted by great big black beetles....everywhere....on my floor.....Not good.

Crunching under my feet.

I swept them all up, but they are EVERYWHERE...including dropping off of the roof in some rooms....My coworker had to sweep up her office as well....

Then I opened my drawer...and there were literally about 60 of them feasting on the gram crackers in my desk....

I screamed.

then I made our courier empty out the drawer!

This is an ongoing pest saga...Last time it was ants....and at Christmas, it was mice. I actually had Mickey sitting on my foot munching down on a piece of popcorn...I screamed then too.

Our weekend was ok though....

Friday night we helped with youth...except my dear husband wouldn't let me play some of the games... I guess Circle of Death just sounded a little rough for him....(LOL)

Saturday I had to do the sucky stuff. You know pants hemmed, and cars washed. I wasn't done by five though, so my husband and kids went to the Rider game without me.... I really wanted to go, but I still had stuff to do. Apparently it was good though, cause the seats were in the hot sun, and I haven't been dealing with the heat well at all.

However, I did bump into my inlaws in Costco, and that was pretty funny.....

They wouldn't let me lift a case of Jones pop, and then followed me home to unload my groceries! Hey...maybe there is something to this being pregnant thing after all!

Sunday after church we drove out to Katepwa beach with our friend Kim, and met our other friends Shawna and Jason. It was soooooo hot. 31 above. and the beach was insanely full of people. We have been going there for years...and NEVER seen that many people there....I couldn't get over it. However, we did find a little patch of shade in a far corner, and our kids found the lake, and we didn't see them again for hours...(too cool to hang out with us now...)

http://www.se.gov.sk.ca/saskparks/ParkInfo/parks/park.asp?park=Katepwa%20Point

I found the lake. and sat in it. it felt good.

Jason found a bee with his bare foot. that did not feel good!

The girls found us conveniently when it was time to go get ice cream.....Even Taco gets his. However, while we were sitting there, some boys found my girls. They were sitting over at the next table....and we never even noticed! Great parents we are....

The boys were like...."so what cha doing" and Bree was like...."Here with my family....AT THE NEXT TABLE" (LOL) Apparently they didn't take rejection well cause they were like...so do ya wanna walk with us after..... WE're WITH OUR FAMILY.....

Apparently my girls had on good deodorant or something....cause then down at the beach....another boy asked Bree out...which resulted in more sarcasm.....WONDER where they get that from?

We finally left the beach around 9 pm.....and almost got killed by a buck crossing the road, and then a stupid truck driver with a death wish....but I guess we made it...cause here I am this morning...with the bugs!

Hello There!

Well this Saturday was the R$iders game and me, my dad and Brandy went... it was lots of fun! The Riders lost by 3 three... thats all .. they were behind in the beginning of the game .. and Toronto was doing well. But the last five minutes of the game was really exciting!!! The Riders got two touchdowns back to back by the end of the game and then were only two points behind and had a chance to win but then Toronto got another point and that made us three points behind which i guess doesn"t really make a difference.. but yeah the Riders lost which sucks but i still had lots of fun! ... what else... Oh yeah Krystal is having a boy which is awesome but if she did have a girl she would've put Danae in the name so she would've been named after me which would be sweet, but oh well, boy or girl Ill love it! So yeah ... yesterday we went to the lake with Kim and Shawna and Jason Megan and Noah (the kids) and my parents, my sister and her friend Destinee and me! It was lots of fun !! It was funny though when we were getting ice cream me, Dess and Brandy were sitting at a seperate table from everyone else cause there wasn't enough room.. but we were just sitting there and this guy walked up to us sat down beside Dess and started talking to us .. it was really uncomfortable.. he asked us if we wanted go for a walk with him and his friend and we were like "we're here with our parents"! (Lol) It was sooo funny. I'm pretty sure he was embarrassed after we said no to him! Then after that we went to go swim and this kid that was like in grade 7 got his sister or friend to come ask me out! of course i said no! I had no idea who this guy was !!! Then after i said no she came back awhile later and asked if Brandy or Dess wanted to go out with him! then they said "umm no thank you!" Haahahaahaha! it was the funniest day ever! But fun! Lol but I should go now cya all later!

Second Pre-Natal Apointment

Yesterday I had my second pre-natal apointment. I wasn't really sure what to expect....You think I would remember what it was like from my girls...but no...and things have changed so much.

It was a really good apointment though. My regular doctor was away, and I had doctor Oroz, and I really liked her. She was extremly personable.

They weighed me first, and I was not looking foreward to that, because I am already showing so much, and I have been eating so much that I was sure that I had gained mega lbs...but NO! Actually I have only gained 5 lbs and she said that I was right on target for that, and so not to worry.

Then she measured me, and again came the question I am getting tired of answering....Are you sure of your dates?

and again.....YES! I was charting....I marked EVERY THING down.

I am measuring 2 weeks bigger then I should....again making the doctor question twins...along with early movement, and shortness of breath among other things....(starving).....However, she did say that it could also just be exagerated symptoms as this is #4 for me....

I guess I will find out one way or another in three weeks....

I did feel movement on Sunday, which is about 6 weeks earlier then most moms feel it, and so I questioned the doctor, but she said that definatly I could have felt it....

Felt like a fish sqiggling in there. I like fish. I'm hungry.

She also told me the names of some of the better OBs so that I could make an informed choice on who I want to deliver baby....

My blood pressure was a little high, but still within the range of where it was supposed to be, but she also told me that the heat could be doing it.

I probably have a cyst in my ovary, which has been causing me considerable pain off and on, but she said they would check that in three weeks, when I had my ultra sound as usually they go away by then anyways....

So......

All is well in babyland...and I am safe till the next apointment which is on Aug. 18th....

While I am at it....

Here is where we are at...

ten_weeks125

Week Ten

  • Baby is now called a fetus in "medical terms". You, however, may have chosen the name "peanut," "angel," "jumping bean" or simply "miracle."
  • The most critical part of your infant's development is complete. Now you are headed into a period of rapid growth.
  • While a bit strange to envision, your baby's head is now about half its length - Soon the rest of the body's growth will catch up but this area is prepared to keep up with the rapid brain development!
  • Eyelids fuse shut and irises begin to develop - Eye color is also determined by this point.
  • Placenta begins to function this week or next - The placenta is the organ responsible for both the provision of nutrients along with the removal of waste to keep your baby growing strong!
  • Your baby will be about 1.22 inch long (3.1cm) and weigh 0.14 ounce (4gm) at the end of this week

2 10 weeks
