Fisher-Price's Preschooler iPad to Hit Shelves This Summer

If you're tired of your young child fiddling with your iPhone and constantly ordering pizzas without your consent but can't justify shelling out $499 for their first Apple slate, Fisher-Price hopes you'll ignore every economic indicator and drop $79.99 on an iXL for your 3- to 6-year-old.

The iXL, capable of nearly everything an iPad will be able to do (including ebooks, music, games, and shunning Flash), will be a hit for the Mattel division if a toy industry analyst quoted for the Bloomberg article is correct: “Kids like to emulate what they see in the larger world and especially what they see older siblings or parents doing.”
So let's all give a round of applause to providing the make-believe object that will finally let Junior play such games as "Divesting Myself From My Child's Desire for Attention", "Overstimulating the Preschooler in My Life", and "Desperately Attaching Myself to the Latest Trends in Popular Culture in Hopes of Staying Relevant in a Fatally Soft Market".
(Sorry; that last game only comes with the Mattel 2010 holiday sales add-on.)
And what must the iXL's father, 2-XL, think of this demeaning comparison to the latest fad in simplistic computing?

sigh.
