Camping with a Grand AM
We've had our car, a 2004 Pontiac Grand AM for about a year now, and I haven't missed our minivan yet, until we tried to go camping recently. We got the kids to get all of the camping gear together so we could throw it all in the car leave town. As soon as I got home from work, we brought all the stuff and laid it out on the driveway behind the car. Instantly, I knew we were in trouble. I looked in my tiny little trunk and then at all the stuff on our driveway and knew there was no way it was all going in there.
I stuck all the sleeping bags, pillows, and other soft stuff in the back seat with the girls, then I started on the trunk. After loading the campstove, the tents, and other gear, I had aproximately 11 cubic inches left to work with. It was time for a grave ultimatum.
I assembled the whole family on the driveway, and sadly said, "We have a choice to make, Clothes or Food. You're either going to go hungry or naked, because we can't fit both."
Now I'm guessing you're wondering what they chose...
Well let's just say the flame roasted salmon and garlic butter potatoes were terrific! For some reason our campsite was the most popular one there, with no shortage of visitors. Oh yeah, I'm also really glad we managed to fit in bugspray and sunscreen!
