The first cut is the deepest...

While Robyn was in the hospital last Thursday, Jeremy and I had a rough night. Jeremy woke up at around 4:30am which is fairly normal, but when I brought him to bed with me he flipped out when Robyn wasn't there. After yelling "NO, Mommy." a few times he threw his head forward right into the headboard on our bed. OUCH. I grabbed him with one hand and turned on the light with the other. By the time I had the light on, we looked like something out of CSI. With help from Bree, we got him into the ER and patched up. When I was a kid, it would have been worth a couple stitches, but these days they just glue them shut. Robyn was surprised by a 5am visit in her hospital room!

Baby Autumn is here!

Sorry for the lack of updates recently, but I had a bit of a rough recovery time, and Jeremy hasn't decided whether or not he is happy I am home...LOL!

Autumn arrived on Oct. 23 at 1.59pm. after 24 hours of labor. She was 7 lbs 8 ozs and is very healthy.
I went for my OB apointment on the 22, but had already been having contractions for two days. Dr. Akymbee told me that I was 100 % efaced, (probably the result of a rough hay wagon ride a day before....) but he stripped my membranes anyways, just to be sure that things kept going.....
By the time we got home, my contractions were about 20 minutes apart, but very strong, but they never changed. Finally around midnight, I decided it was probably not labor and went to bed, but they were strong enough so that I couldn't sleep....The minute I got out of bed, they dropped to two minutes apart, and so we went to the hospital. For a while they were bad enough, we were actually concerned I might have it on the way there....
Once we were upstairs on the maternity ward, they checked me out, but it turned out, I was only two cm dilated. However, the pain was much stronger then previous labors and so they gave me nitrious gas while waiting for an epidural. They had to wait as my blood pressure was quite high, and they wanted to do a blood workup to be sure all was well... When they did go to put in the epidural, it took them five trys to get it in... (at which point I was really glad for the gas...because I couldn't feel the contractions, but I could feel the needle in my spine.... ugh.... However, after the epidural was in, it was night and day, and I couldn't feel any contractions....
It was great! It did make me shake for several hours though...
We were very excited when my OB came in at 8am the next morning, because it was the last time he was on call for over a month, and we had prayed that he would once again be the doctor to deliver my daughter as he was for my son. He is a Christian man, and prayed for Jeremy after he was born, and so we were very happy that God honored our request.
Autumn finally arrived after 24 hours of labor at 1.59 pm (ironically, Dr. Akimbee had said he would see me at 2pm the same day...and sure enough....) and was prayed for by him again...How cool is that???
I have added some pics of our wonderful new daughter.....
and for those of you who keep asking....
I AM DONE POPULATING SK....LOL!
We figure five is definately enough...

This is funny....we actually have no freakin idea who this girl is....but she asked if she could have a picture taken with Jeremy.....There was no reason not to..she didn't know who we were and she didn't even know his name...but we thought it was pretty funny anyways.....Jeremy didn't seem to object........

Lumsden Pumpkin Festival...

One of our new traditions for the past couple of years is the Lumsden Pumpkin Festival at Cornmaiden Market. It is a lot of fun...and really cool that a business puts on a festival that is pretty much free. They have a pumpkin patch for pictures, a little haunted house, a hay bail maize and free coffee, hot dogs, and pumpkin soup....which is delicious by the way. Jeremy had an absoulute blast this year....Here are a few pics of him getting intimate with a skeleton he was getting to know.....LOL! (and NO for those who are wanting to know...I still have not had the baby yet....YES...I am frusterated...it might the first time in five kids I am actually OVERDUE!!!!

They meet....

Hey...buddy....look at me...

Your kinda cute....

I am going to Kiss you!!!!

He was absoulutely hilarious yesterday....stay tuned for more funny pics of my son kissing everything from skeletons, to rats, pumpkins and hardened corn......

Jeremy has fun at Wascana

Update...

Friday I phoned the fetal assesment unit and told them what happened the night before.....
They weren't too impressed with labor and delivery unit....and wanted to know the nurses name...
Unfortunately I didn't ask, because I was so shocked at the poor treatment, but they seemed to know who it was anyways. They told me to come in and get a non-stress test for baby, although we were all sure everything was fine, but she hadn't been moving as much as regular, so they just wanted to be on the safe side....
Kendal came home from work and we went up for the test, which as predicted was fine, and although the little princess didn't move for two days prior, she apparently didn't like the monitor and kicked it so much she passes the test within ten minutes. We were on our way out again, when the receptionist stopped us at the door. She had the manager of the fetal stess/labor and delivery on the phone, who asked me again what happened the night before and personally apolagised again (even though I hadn't made that much out of it) She said it was being dealt with immediately and never should have happened......
I appreciated that I was taken seriously-at least by the manager- if not by the nurse.....I just hope I don't have the same nurse when I deliver..... :(
Anyways...bottom line is....my blood pressure is finally starting to drop again, and baby is still being a diva and hanging out......

ARGHHHHHH

Sometimes dealing with different departments at the hospital is enough to drive a person up the wall.....
Yesterday I went into the Fetal Assesment unit to get my blood pressure moniter....because my OB was concerned with my blood pressure, which apparently was 140 over 100. I am not a nurse, and I have no idea of what is good or bad....BUT....I do what I am told. Like a good girl I took home my moniter....(which by the way I had to pay $100 for...although I will get most of that back-we don't have the money right now) and I came home with it, and have been taking my blood pressure as I was told. I had to take it once...if it was high take it again 15 minutes later. If either number was highter then 14o over 90 I was to call my doctor, the fetal assesment unit...or if they were not in...labor and delivery. Well....I took it at 6pm, and it was high so I took it at 10 and it was high again. I did what I was told, and called the labor and delivery unit....AND
got this nurse...who obviously didn't feel like being there.
This is what I got....
"Why are you calling us?"
What do you want us to do?
We aren't inducing you......
(Which by the way...isn't what I called for...so AGAIN I very patiently explained why I was calling.....---because I was TOLD to.....
"Well your doctor isn't here......" (NO KIDDING...it isn't his night....)
We only pay attention to the bottom number
(me for the fourth time....I was told to call in if either number went up.......i don't care what you guys look at .... I am doing WHAT I WAS TOLD'
'Oh....and here was the kicker.....
"you will just have to stay that way until the baby comes......" THEN WHY PUT ME ON A MONITER....
anyways...the conversation went absolutly no where, and in the end...I hung up and cried out of frusteration for half an hour, cause I am pregnant, and I was angry, and I rented a machine for 100 dollars I hadn't wanted to rent in the first place when I am almost due, and why did I bother.....and I felt like I had no control.

This morning when I got up my blood pressure was 151 over 90, and so I called to the fetal assesment unit....
They were quite angry with labor and delivery.....and I am supposed to go in this morning, and have a fetal stress test...
They wanted the nurses name....
Apparently the same manager runs both the fetal assesment unit, and labor and delivery....

AS for me....I almost wish I hadn't bothered with the blood pressure thing...it is becoming a pain in the butt, when I am almost due anyways.....
i am sure everything is fine...but being treated with respect would have been nice.....

Anyway...that is the end of my rant...I feel better now...my hubby is coming home....so here is to a better day..... :)

Almost there...

Just a quick update...I went to the doctors today and everything is looking pretty good. This is only the second time I have ever made a due date, so I am pretty excited about that and meeting my baby girl soon.....
I am now 1 cm dilated...so anytime...
However my blood pressure is up some, so on Thursday i have to go to the fetal assesment unit, so they can moniter baby and my blood pressure...I am pretty sure it is only because of the evil cold I picked up this week.....
Here is to hoping I am better before delivery.....so....
still hanging in there.....
