53rd Anniversary of Ghana's Independence!

This last weekend, some friends of ours....  Matilda and Samuel,
invited us to a dinner for the 53rd Anniversary of Ghana's Independence!
Which...by the way....we jumped on...because..

A) We haven't had a date night in ages...
and the kids have spring fever...
and
B) We haven't had a date night in ages....
oh...I said that already....
B) We really really enjoy cultural experiences, and thought it would be fun...
Which it was by the way...the most fun we have had in ages.
Those guys really know how to throw a party!
C) We don't get to spend much time with our friends, and that was fun too!

The food was absolutely incredible...

The outfits were beautiful...

The keynote speaker, was a very educated and well spoken woman.
Her name was Liz Quarshie, and she did a great job!
She spoke on the Theme, "Strengthening Our Youth"

The entertainment was wonderful too!
This group was called

They did a great job of getting everyone involved
dancing, singing and playing instruments.
They were a lot of fun...Hope we see them again sometime..

There was also the Caribbean Steel Band....
They were really good too.
We watch them every year at our multi - cultural festival - Mosaic..

and of course there was the dancing...

and more dancing....

dancing....

Lots more dancing....

Was I ever sore the next day....
great excercise!

By the end of the night...
everyone was pretty tired...

What a great night!
For those who are interested in going next year..
(cause we sure will be if they do it again)
Tickets were $25 a person.
I will be setting up a separate site for all the pictures,
for those interested in seeing them...
or for those of you who are on facebook..
I have a couple of albums set up on there.

Wordless Wednesday!

Finally, some of our snow is starting to melt..
Yesterday was beautiful out,
and so, even though I am in the middle of potty training the boy,
I decided that I needed to kick the kids outside
and let them burn off some energy...
They had a blast...and it was really warm out...

Jeremy had fun spashing mud on everything...

...and they ran and ran and ran and ran....

and kicked...

and kicked some more...

All that work meant a little nap was needed...

Gracie wasn't too impressed when her hands got dirty though...

Apparently she just doesn't think much of the mud...

Walking through the snow is hard work...
he kept falling through...
