Family is not alway great....but it is good....

Odd post title right? The point is this...No matter how many troubles you may go through as a family (and we all do) it is still worth it in the end....My family is dysfunctional and kind of odd...I have children from a previous marriage (all almost adults now...in fact one is...) and that relationship was a bust in the biggest kind of way...but it did leave me with children which I value and cherish...(obviously).. and yet even the greatest joys of my life have caused me immense pain and anger at different points of our relationship. Krystal (my 19 year old) ran away at 15, and pretty much threw away everything we ever taught her including our relationship...and I have to admit that at that point, I really did question having children at all. Yet today she is a very hard working and pretty responsible girl, who has given me a wonderful grandson I think the world of. She makes me laugh, and has impressed me with the way she has taken on the challenge of parenthood when I wasn't quite sure she was up to it...and I know that there is still more growing for her to do, and I look forward to getting to know the person she is becoming. Brandy and Bree have also given me many gray hairs the last couple of years...Brandy with her sneaking out the window escapades to name one of many...and I am sure that Bree is scheming in her head ways to turn my hair gray...
I am on my second marriage...my husband is six years younger then me, and became an instant daddy which brought on its own set of challenges...but I have to say that he excelled at a very difficult job, and that as a team we did a very good job of raising our three girls. We have also faced some difficulties at different times in our relationship and at times I have also wondered if getting married again was a wise idea...I came with baggage, and Kendal is STUBBORN...(nooo.......) but I wouldn't trade our marriage for anything. Kendal is my best friend, and after 11 years of marriage I think we have learned some stuff....
Now we have a baby boy...Jeremy. We are stupid over him. We think he is the best thing ever created, and that no one else has a baby as wonderful as Jeremy....(sound familiar new parents?) but I know that in a couple of years, he will start to assert his Independence, and probably break my heart a couple of times....
My point is...family isn't always GREAT...but it is good. My family isn't perfect, but I wouldn't trade one of them for the world. There are always great joys, and great disappointments, but in the end it is my family which makes life worth living.
My family also makes me think of the absolutely unconditional love God has for us...His family. As a people we are pretty messed up. We come to Him as new Christians determined to be the best children ever, but it doesn't take long for us to start re-asserting our Independence.. Like my children, as we grow we have to fall on our faces a few times before we start to learn our lessons-and yet shock of shocks...knowing what I do now I still chose to have more children. God must feel frustrated with us, as we constantly throw all the lessons he teaches us out the window...and yet he values relationship with us enough that he loves us through all of it- We aren't always Great...and yet..God created us...and thought it was good..nothing in this life which is worth having is safe....but it can be good.

"Ooh!" said Susan, "I'd thought he was a man. Is he--quite safe? I shall feel rather nervous about meeting a lion."

"That you will, dearie, and no mistake," said Mrs. Beaver, "if there's anyone who can appear before Aslan without their knees knocking, they're either braver than most or else silly."

"Then he isn't safe?" said Lucy.

"Safe?" said Mr. Beaver. "Don't you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? 'Course he isn't safe. But he's good. He's the King, I tell you."

Oh Gandhi, you dog you.

Oddly enough Regina's City Hall has a statue of Confucius on one side of the entrance and a bust of Mahatma Gandhi on the other. Apparently Confucius isn't much of a riders fan, but Gandhi seems to have had a pretty good weekend after the riders win. On Monday morning he had not only a Hawaiian lei, but I think he was still hung over.

The Day After......

This is my house. This is the day after the move. Need I say more?

The move actually went far better then I could have ever hoped for! We had tons of men to help, freeing me up to take care of my son, and "try" to give directions, which after a while was actually quite useless...I didn't have time to label anything, and so I just stuck things where I thought they should go....Let's just say...Jeremy's got more stuff then anyone else in the house....so I am pretty sure that most of it isn't his...but I will have to wait till it is all cleaned up to figure out who's stuff is in there...LOL!

We also had tons of help to clean the house we moved out of which meant that we were able to get them both done the same day instead of having to do all the cleaning the day after. Today I will have to go over and clean out the freezer, and clean up the laundry room. Kendal will have to install another lock...and Monday I will have to go let the carpet cleaners in, but other then that...we are done with the old house. Then it is just the unpacking here....

I am not going to church today....First of all, I can't find any clean clothes for either Jeremy or myself...nor any silver wear...or his diaper bag...you get the idea....I have however managed to make the living room fairly livable....

The move itself was a little hard on Jeremy....I brought him over here the other day, and turned on his lullaby CD hoping to help him adjust to the idea of a new house? and the poor little guy looked at the CD player, the bottom lip went out and he burst into tears! Who knows what he was thinking....He was very sad when we moved our stuff out of the other house, and he looked very confused at seeing our stuff in this house, however, by last night...he actually giggled when we put him into his car seat and left the old house...and that is something...he hates his car seat...When we got here and he saw our couches and his piano...he smiled and then he played quite happily for about an hour and was in a better mood then I have seen him in for days...so maybe he has figured out what is going on.....

Now back to unpacking.....

Pre -Moving Day!

Today is pre-moving day....which means that anything I didn't get done the rest of the week, will have to be done today....I have to clean the oven (yuck), the fridge (double yuck) and pack up all the little odds and ends which I was unable to pack yesterday for one reason or another...including Jeremy's room. (We left it up till last so I would be able to let at least one member of the family sleep in relative comfort-and after all his comfort does mean my comfort...) I will be making some trips to the house with things that are either very breakable, or need to be found right away...I do have Bree's help, so that will be good...she took this week off while she was in between schools...
Worst of all...I will be losing my internet (not that!) and my tv...any second as a matter of fact...
so my house will be VERY quiet today....not that it matters, as I am sure that I won't be able to have time to surf the web anyways......so I leave you with this video....I hope it gives you a good laugh!

This is my life.....

OMG! JEREMY STOOD UP! ...and other daily trivea!

Jeremy is 8.5 months old. He doesn't crawl....has just started to pull himself around...Can't pull himself into a sitting position.....BUT apparently....little Jeremy CAN stand up....It actually has happened 4 times now in the last week...I looked away for a minute, and when I turned back to him, the little monkey had pulled himself up on his chair! - So much for developmentally slow...We'll show them pediatricians won't we Jeremy!

The other thing he did this week which turned my head was kind of funny...He is starting to parrot words and sounds.....so I am in the kitchen this week, and he is in the living room playing with his piano, which makes animal noises....and I hear a quacking sound....Jeremy was trying to quack like the duck on his piano! LOL! The other piano says the colors when you press the keys, and on two different occasions he mimicked the word. He said blue to Kendal and the next day red to Bree.....

OK. enough bragging about my son for today..

The next three days are going to be a little on the rough side....I didn't get enough of the kitchen packed yesterday, so I am going to have to finish that today, and get the oven cleaned....wash the cupboards...that kind of fun stuff....I am also going to have to go down town and do move related business...Tomorrow I have to pack up Jeremy's room (which means sleeping with him for the night...not fun when your nursing because the little guy thinks it is a free for all......) and we actually take posession of the house, so I will have to be there for ADT to hook up our alarm, move some breakables, and go for a physical?? Now WHY did I book that for such a busy week? and of course Sat. is actually moving day....enough said....
